Job description

Maintenance Manager/Technician

Metal Standard Corp – Holland, MI 49423

The successful candidate will lead our maintenance team and partner with production to install, troubleshoot, program and repair any issues with equipment; along with providing maintenance support for the entire facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, gages and test equipment.

  • Coordinate with Vendor’s on necessary outside repairs and new equipment needs

  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.

  • Advises operators and technicians of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic equipment and components.

  • Provides support and training to operators and assembly personnel when necessary on various equipment & machines

  • Informs appropriate management of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.

  • Assist in plant maintenance internal and external activities including coordinating outside contractors and verification of work completion.

  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.

  • Performs routine & preventive maintenance functions as directed; for all production equipment.

  • Any other activities that are deemed essential

Working Environment / Physical Activities:

  • Participates in a regular 40 hour/week work schedule; night shift, overtime and weekend coverage may be required.

  • Works unsupervised and demonstrates ability to take projects to completion.

  • Work generally performed in a production environment with possible exposure to solvents, toxic materials and noise levels in excess of 75 decibels. Outdoor work maybe required at times.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing maintenance team

  • Driving department strategy and performance metrics

  • Mentoring maintenance technicians & implementing personal development plans

  • Working with outside vendors for service & warranty repairs.

  • Use of a CMMS for work orders, inventory, preventative/predictive maintenance, & reporting

  • Managing and performing the maintenance & repair of CNC tube lasers, CNC tube benders, CNC wire formers, robotic welding cells and various other metal manufacturing equipment.

  • Understanding of complex electrical, hydraulic, & mechanical systems such as:

  • Servo electric drives/motors

  • Digital & analog control systems

  • Closed loop proportional controls

  • Hydraulic pumps, directional control, & logic (cartridge) valves

  • Ball screws, & precision mechanical control * Ability to read electrical, fluid power, & mechanical prints/schematics

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills

  • Commitment to the team

  • Excellent customer service

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills, & familiarity with MS Office products.

  • Experience with custom automation and PLC programming skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $27.00 per hour

Job Title:
Laser Operator

Reports To:  Production Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly

 

Summary:
Maintains machines, tooling, and data relating to the laser cutting process. 

 

All Employees are responsible for performing their assigned duties and tasks so as to assure an optimal return on corporate assets and investment in excess of 15%, growing the business by helping to increase market share, and assuring that products are delivered on time, as promised, to customers.  In order to attain this overall responsibility, the Essential Duties and Responsibilities for this position include the following, to which other related duties or responsibilities may be assigned in order to accomplish the Organization's overall mission and objective:

 

  • Understands machine set-up, including program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles, and materials.

  • Understands start-up and shut down for laser machines

  • Can perform laser cutting operations efficiently and effectively, per specification’s

  • Tech (cutting parameters) adjustments

  • Lenses Change

  • Assist Maintenance in all repair activities

  • Mirror cleaning and alignment

  • Load Straps adjustment

  • Assure all parts are produced to the required specifications.

  • Maintain all aspects of safety in tube laser areas.

Education and/or Experience:                                                      

Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with laser operations.

 

Language Skills:                                                 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:                                           

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:                                              

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
